EF Central Locking.
It's absolute rubbish.
Ever since i bought my car i hated it, but figured because it was factory integrated that there wasnt much i could do about it,

well i've had it

i looked into the factory system, read up about the smartlock and BEM systems, run some tests and decided it was infact possible to replace the central locking, whilst retaining full functionality and integration.

so after a day's work its finally done, factory system gone, replaced by a $35 1 master/3 slave kit from jaycar (you can also get 2 master/2 slave if you want to keep it same as factory), works brilliantly, press the button, click, doors locked, no awful sound electric motors, and no annoying lock/unlock cycles when something goes wrong.

the best part is, if one of the motors does stuff up, you can buy them seperately from jaycar for $10

its gotta be the best modification i have made to my car

Hell yeah great idea, those ford annoying/slow/loud/unreliable lock actuators are crap.

yeah everything still works as per normal
the BEM doesn't know the difference as the jaycar system uses the same three wire system to lock/unlock the master, which then sends the signal via 2 wires to the slave motors on the other doors

sounds like i will have to whip up a doco, not sure about the video though!

Yeah like Mitch said, make a video with sound, it would be so odd, yet so cool. Such a hot car, really deserves a better sounding/working central locking system.

P.S Write doco! lol.

has anyone tried to use AU2 smartshield actuators? Or do they have a different number of wires?
