hey when I am driving along and I turn the AC on, the screen flickers for a sec. THe sound doesnt skip or anything but the lights dim a little and the car seems a little more sluggish, heavy to be exact.
Is it a battery issue like its not strong enough or something? Am I draining the battery with the screen sub and amp? ANy help- is welcomed. PS Altenator has just been replaced like last 3 weeks. |

Sorry to hijack, but I have a "funky" problem also with my a/c. If I leave the car for about 6 hours or so and go to start it up. The a/c comes out musty/mouldy smelling, wtf is up with that, how I fix it?

lack of use in the colder months, get a can of spray, can't rember the name, from repco or somewhere, it is like a disinfectent you spray in all your vents and air intake, follow the instuctions and your smell will be gone, you may be able to get the name from an ac guy but it will be cheaper to buy from repco |

1:
AC drains a few amps itself when the clutch kicks in, also the thermo's turn on at the same time. If the screen did not flicker... i would be worried. The sluggish feeling indicates to me that the ac works =P . 2: Sounds like the previous or current owner is/was a smoker. when the evap freezes it traps crap from the air and over time they keep that crap and it always smells like rotten socks. a good hose out might do the trick... also make sure the drain pipe isn't blocked.

theres a drain pipe for the AC (in the engine bay) just on the firewall. a Black pipe hanging down.
it might be a bit of an over kill, but if you can be bothered you can remove the glovebox take out the fan speed resister and kinda hose out the AC evap. i don't mean go crazy on the water, I know when I did the CC conversion I vacuumed the evap and washed out all the crap. but then again if you like keeping water away from the interior... i understand!

I thought the glovebox was a dead giveaway =P
There might be leaves or s**t stopping the pipe from draining and creating a beautiful scent

There were some leaves, got them out yesterday when I vacummed the car.
I thought when you were raving about the glovebox that you were talking about another part of the a/c system. 8) O, and good luck with your problem there twirky, lol.
