you relise a tacho is a tachometer and tells the revs, it is a gauge. oil pressure, volts, etc. arn't tachos there other gauges.
secondly, theres an amp meter, vacum gauge, air to fuel ratio gauge, uhhh oil temperatur gauge, head temperatur (it's a sensor ring goes between spark plug and head VDO used to make em), ummm what else could you put, maybe water pressure, exhaust temperature, tranny fluid pressure, tranny fliud temp, boost (if applicable). |

yep i realize that but im more after what the most important ones are or even what setups some others have that work well for them!

one of the final touches to my car will be the addition of 2 small guages, air/fuel and water pressure. i think these are 2 things that you can take a reading and use to help the car,
who really gives a toss about the tranny fluid temp lol just my 2 bob |

yeah ill post a pic soon mooseman
Why do u think u need a water PRESSURE gauge Ryan..how does it help? I would have thought a tranny temp would be resonably important too!

haha well i guess all guages are important, but i personally think it would be handy to know straight away when the pressure drops cos of a burst hose or whatever so you can pull over and fix it, before the temp needle goes into hot which is bad...
all in all i suppose aftermarket guages are purely for the wank factor. if ya want them cos you like them then get them. |

to answer the original question, even though you have most of the important ones in the cluster already, the factory gauges arent the most accurate of items, nor are they marked at any true value
IMO the most important are (in order) water temp oil pressure oil temp air/fuel ratio fuel pressure the rest IMO arent *that* essential

it tells you your manifold vacuum. its pretty handy. it tells u how much load ur putting on ur engine. some have economy markings on em whihc tell u how good ur fuel consumption would be. theres decel-idle-fair-poor. and they have different colours. the idea is to drive and keep it in the green for good fuel.
i connected mine in where the map sensor is with a t-piece.

I tried to convince him manual's are better, but I dont think this person knows how to drive manual.
