Put myself down for analogue, can't beat the ol' school look, I still love Smiths gauges!

analogue.
Digital can be too distracting, as it flicks around. eg. If the temp is 99.5. Does it show you 99 or 100 or flick between the two. With a analogue, you'd not notice any subtle changes. Spend the money on good gauges too. I've wasted money on cheap gauges, only to have to replace them when they fail and squint as they're hard to read. Ponied up for autometer, and haven't looked back, must easier to rear, haven't failed on me.

im for the anilogue.. more accurate..
im currently using a autometer digital led afr gauge and its the most annoying gauge ive had so far.. i also prefer mechanical gauges over electric especially with boost gauges as the electronic boost gauge has a slower responce compared to the mechanical.. |

'cept you can't use mechanical inside the car.

Gab mechanical oil pressure gauges usually have copper lines or you can get braided.. mechanical water temp gauges dont have coolant lines that run in the car...lol.. they have a copper capillary line with a probe fitting that screws into you cooling system. all old school gauges were like that. even some new gauges are still mechanical like this.. |

Analog's the go - I once had a digital tacho and when you were accelerating it was just a blur of changing numbers - a sweep hand is a much more intuitive way of seeing where things are at a glance, as well as seeing change in whatever's being measured.
Oh, and on the idea of mech guages inside the car, mate had an XW 6 cyl in mid 70's that had extra guages in a panel under the dash - hot day in summer, going up a hill, and the PLASTIC bloody line to the oil guage decided to break - I had shorts on in the passenger seat and got covered in hot bloody oil...not good...

Analogue all the way.
Much easier to cast a quick glance over everything while driving along. Also you have the capability to mount the guages in such a way as when you are doing some "spirited driving" all the needles are vertical. That way after a real quick look while you are concentrating elsewhere is something isnt sitting right you can get off it quick smart and check whats going on. Also I never just run a oil pressure guage. For the cost of a T piece I also run a light as well. They just get your attention alot more in the heat of the moment if they light up.

analogue for me also.
Smiths a great brand, Autometer is good also but very over-priced. Other brands are Tims(UK), Pricol(UK) and VDO(if you can still get them...) All of the above come with various senders and adaptors to fit your requirement. I only know these well as I have the mini and the 52mm black faces look the bom. I have a capilliary oil pressure, dual temp sensor guage(one for thermostat and the other for the "hot" end of the block to make sure I don't cook No 4 piston...)and one each of ammeter and box oil temperature. he dual temp guage is the dual indicator one(you can get combined oil and water temp ones from Smiths also) Digital ones flicker too much and I agree they are distracting. In that case, a mechanical coolant temp gauge is fine, infact I'd like one, but I still doubt I'd like a mechanical oil pressure gauge based on the fact that oil lines are running inside the car, braided or not, copper or not, dont like the idea.
