Got some problems with heater. Warm air coming out when heater turned down (no aircon gas probably this problem) but its winter here so thats not a prob, The problem is warm air when heater turned onto 32. Mates got a falcon to with same system and his cranks warm as.
Done the diagnostics via the tech docos. No errors Got under car and checked the water tap, Actuator is working fine. Cannot hear any vacuum leaks coming from in dash (hearings not the best) What do you guys reckon could be causing this? Only thing left on my list is check for vacuum leaks but that involves removing alot of stuff and i want to avoid it if possible. Cheers any help would be appreciated.

check your thermostat is working. your heater core could be blocked. feel the heater pipes that go into the fire wall near the inlet manifold (BBM). check if there warm/hot

what does you engine temp run at, does it heat up,
just had the exact same problem with my brothers fairmont, it wouldnt put out hot air, but the engine wasnt getting hot, hovered around the c, didnt make it into the normal range well end result thermostat is stuck open allowing water to circulate to fast and cool down to quickly and hence now providing you warm air

Not the thermostat being blocked but it staying open , so the engine will run cold and won't heat up the air. If the heater box is blocked its easy to fix just take the hoses off and shove a garden hose in there and flush it out , only hard thing is getting the hoses off, it's hard to take off the spring clamps but I replaced mine with normal hose clamps.

Nice cheers guys, ill replace thermostat on the weekend, temp sits pretty low, bottom line of where it says normal. doesnt go into that range unless hooking o's for a few mins then it gos right up real quick. Never tried heater when its up there. Ill replace thermostat and see how i get on, Other wise will flush the core, that looks like a pig though! hoses right in under bbm. I should of done this in summer lol

Instead of taking them off at the firewall it might be easier to take it off near the heater tap. Then stick the hose in the thermostat but in the heater hose on the housing , if it comes out then it's not blocked.
Either way it's not to hard just in a C*** spot, it was hard enough for me and my hands are small . So big hands would be an effort .

Yeah mint ill let yous know how i get on, Oh and in regards to water temp, had heater in diag mode and it reckons engine temp was at bout 60 degrees when sitting where it normally sits. now i think about it that pretty low

You stated that when the heater is turned off, turned to cold, you still get warm air coming through, if that is the case the tap is open and if the actuator is working it probably means that the butterfly is rusted out. |

If everything else appears to be working and its just a matter of the air temp then this is most likely your problem. What thermostat have you got in there?

Yeah it wasnt until the question was asked about temp till i actually thought about it. As for the thermostat, I couldnt tell you whats in there at the moment as ive never looked since ive owned the car, Im betting on its a standard one though, car has done 160k.
