Hi Guys,
Just curious to know if anyone added cruise control, climate control and trip computers to there EF/EL falcons which lack those items.

Does anyone know of the costs or the diffculity of doing this?

do a search as the "how to" is either covered in the tech docos or in threads.

climate control conversion has alot of work involved, but is possible.

trip comp is pretty easy

cruise control is supposed to be pretty easy if your car was optioned with abs, im about to do this so ill let you know how i go.

you don't need abs to have cruise - the loom is seperate

the loom is intergrated.
there is a seperate loom available, not sure if ford have any more.
you still have to jump under the dash and join wires though.

having ABS makes it 10000x easier.

mine had no ABS and i put it in, its not that bad.

No mine doesn't have ABS, which sounds like it's going to makes things abit of a pain.

Mash85 let me know how you go with adding cruise control to your ride.

I agree, even though the going rate for a fairmont is little more than a good GLi wait until you see tha changeover price at a dealer.

yeah ive done climate control, its not really that hard if your not scared of doing some major pulling apart. modding the airbox is quite easy. i wouldnt mind actually writing a better climate control doc. if you get a fairmont wiring loom is pretty easy, adding all wires probably doesnt make it worth it

I want to option my car with the fairmont climate control, seems it'd be easier just to buy a fairmont but money money money :D

I didnt really see a huge price difference between a gli and a fairmont.. like wasn't a big difference cos for one thing i bought my car at auctions and price can variate and two is that a car which is 10 years old or whatever the value has depreciated so much that; when new differnce was sum 10 grand but 10 years later its like 500-1 grand etc depending on both conditions etc.

nooo i mean say u havn't bought a car and u were thinking of optioning it or upgrading..... just think of getting a fairmont in the first place.... but hey some people think different...

also a optioned gli, wont ever be like a fairmont... cos a gli with stuff is still a gli........ isnt that correct?
