Everyone relax about the tacho......
It is hopefully a pre-manual conversion additive/stroked motor thing so eventually when it's pumping out the quality 1/4 mile times, shifting through the gears and reving high then it should be put to use. Anyway enough about the tacho which is on the floor at home NOT in the car at the moment......let's get back on topic, the interior..... ......and Rapier not having a torx screw to get out seat belts, seat and steering wheel was living hell!!!! |

I think seats are sold but there could be a few things lying around.....might have to ask Adrian about that.
The head unit went in pretty good cause we were able to use the existing premo sound bracket. Is your a single din screen or are you going the double din with a dvd player or cd player? Just make sure you start early on it cause just pulling things apart, soldering wires and giving the headunit test runs takes time. |

Looking good. I once changed my Hermitage red 5.0 XD interior from brown VINYL to full XF silver grey. So yeah, I feel your pain It is a lot of work, but looked great with LTD chrome handles, shifter, door lock knobs etc. I also packed in a triple layer of soundproofing everywhere too. It was actually quieter than my EF Ghia inside
I love the monster tachos in silver, as long as they are tucked neatly away near the A pillar. Do what you want with your car! Mike.

What is involved in the change then; I was under the impression that it was a decen job with wiring either way - was i mis-informed lol?

It is a bit of work John...plus you miss out on the adjustable speedo that a few of us have with the ex-chaser clusters...the fairlane clusters are indeed nice...if they had the speedo calibration feature (why couldn't cops have NF's and NL's back in the day ?! hehe) I'd have one in my car by now On topic - nice work Dave...cappucino looks the goods - grey is just soooo taxi for me...sick of seeing it...it's nothing special...very little in grey appeals to me anymore at all...I think the EL GT has a fugly interior (I'm sure it's very comfortable though!)...I must say, the pinacle of grey for me would have to be an NL Concorde interior - the darker highlights make it stand out a bit more...but I'd still rather have an DL LTD / FBT interior anyday Cheers, Steve |
