Hi Guys
Gotta BF XR6 MkII, I wanted to replace the headlight globes with something a bit 'brighter' so I bought a couple of Super White H4 12V 100/90W globes. Then I read that a few people have melted the plugs on the back of the globes. I know, I know I should have done the homework first. Has any one else tried these? Should I buy something else a little less ambitious but whiter than original? |

How about stick to the originals so theirs less C*** with ridiculous bright lights on the road, one thing if your bulk is country driving but otherwise, if you have trouble driving around the suburbs with stock headlights, it might be a driver problem.

Get a HID conversion kit, they are fair cheap now, just make sure you stick to phillips

get the headlight alignment checked, as yes they will melt the plugs

The B series XR lights give excellent light stock. Also using higher wattage globes can also damage and even mellt the actual headlight lense. If you want some good light go the globes that offer longer distance that use the same wattage.

lol, he has a point man, nothing worse than night driving, and getting a blinding focus of light right in your face, to the point you have to shield their lights with your hand, just to be able to focus on your bit of dark road

i have 4000k lows and highs and 4 white parkers (2 in each headlight lol)
they are brilliant. nice and clear around town, and on high beams out on the highway they spread very well, can see everything. i think they are narva globes. and if brighter globes melt BA lenses, the fools should've stayed with glass

My mate put Philips DiamondVision globes in his and its seems okay.
Maybe look into modding the headlight so there's a very small exhaust vent for the hot air to escape? |

i agree with lbro n kimtez, too many knobs out there scared of the dark these days. specially homo, full time, non low range 4wd owning pompous w4nkers out there that think that spotlights are deemed necessary 24 hrs a day.

There's nothing worse for glare than these kits. Also, there's no such thing as a genuine philips HID kit. Some of the kit manufacturers will use some philips components, but philips have never made a HID kit. |

Well guys please go and put 100w globes in all your headlights...
It will be sensational for me!!! Why? I'm the guy who molds the outer lenses for these things - and if everybody goes and melts their lamps, you will keep me in a job!!! Please? I gotta pay off the XR6...  Seriously, they work very well with nice new globes when we build them! What happens then? The bulb output drops like any other light globe. So, as others have pointed out - good quality 55/60's are fine. Change the globes yearly. The lamps are designed for a 10yr service life, heat tested with standard globes. They are made out of 5 different plastics and a thermoset dough - they don't like being cooked! They also hate moisture - so make sure the caps are on properly, this kills 99% of lamps. I personally use the phillips blue in the H4, leave the H7's standard to add yellow to the blue/white light. (I drive at night daily) |

while on the subject about globes and headlights. what is the brightes globe you can put in a EL Gli Headlight without the lense melting? Also are EF/EL XR Headlight Lenses Glass Or Plastic?
