On my EL XR8 I dont have a headlight left on warning beeps when I open the doors. All earthing points for door closed for interior lights work. Everything is as it should be except the headlight left on warning beeps. What do I need to check or replace to get it working again?

Cheers

This is all I found in the manual: Lights on warning lamp.
Warning is made when the instrument cluster determines that the ignition has dropped to less than 7.5 volts, while the park or head lights are on. Buzzer: 3 tones rising, then pause. Repeat.

I would say check the plugs on the back of your cluster. Does the lights on lamp illuminate with your lights on?

I have pulled the cluster out and checked, because I had to change a globe on the cluster so I checked the plugs as well.
All I get as a warning is the light on the cluster but no warning beeps.
Maybe that means I wont get a warning because its above 7.5 volts? Sounds reasonable. Maybe it isnt a problem.

Thanks Happy.

it could be your buzzer then is faulty - what else makes the buzzer go off you could test with?

In your profile it says you have an EF and an EL, best way to check would to be try swapping the Instrument Clusters over. See if same issue different cars. Then you know were the problem is.

I actually figured it out. There is nothing wrong with it. I tried on the other cars I got and its all good.

If you have had the engine running with the lights on and then turn the engine off you get the warning beeps. But if you just turn the lights on without the car running it doesnt beep. Thats how I tested it and it didnt work so I thought something was wrong. All is good now.

Thanks chaps.

I thought it was supposed to beep with the engine off and the lights on no matter what. Bad Timmeh.

Hey there pete, if you have the keys on accessories and turn the parklights or headlights on then turn the keys to off the beeper should sound even without the engine on  .
