Hi all. Before I start, a few words of advice for those contemplating replacing their heater core:
DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!! BUY ANOTHER CAR INSTEAD!!!!!!!! Anyway, now to my problem: I have got the heater assembly out of the car (after 2 days of swearing and *^%$&ing around) , and I want to know: Is there a secret to taking apart the heater/fan assembly?? I have taken out all the screws, and the nuts that hold the attaching bolts in, but I still can't seem to separate the two halves. I do notice that there seems to be some sort of silastic joining the halves. Maybe a heat gun...... I dunno, but I reckon that this thing was never designed to be taken either out or apart. Holden got it right with the LH/X Torana, as the heater assy. was in the engine bay, and really easy to get to |

use a screwdriver to gently separate the halves and use a knife to cut the silastic
