Hey guys
I have an Au series 1 fairmont ghia. Coming into winter my heater has died. The car has climat control and even when i put it on 32 degrees it still pumps out cold air ???? Im not sure how this can be becuase doesnt the heater just run off the heat of the coolant ? could this be a simple fix eg, fuse or something similar I hope its not too expensive, and im bloody freezing Thank You

you can do it yourself but its a dash-out job. You can get another blend door motor for roughly $35

Like complete dash out job, i could imagin in an Au this wouldnt be the easiest.

yeah,complete dash out job. an au is easier than an E-series. I have done it myself multiple times in my ef and that was relitively easy - Refer to my build thread, located in my signature. and where abouts are you located as if i can, i may be able to come down one weekend and do it all for you for $10

Before a dash out job inspect the heater tap in the engine bay first as it may have failed or the vac hose may have come off.
To check the blend door motor put the climate control in test mode and it will show a fault code if the blend door motor is not function correctly |

cranny wrote: How do I put the climate control in test mode. Thank you. IIRC while the c/c is off, press the MODE button and OFF button together. it will run its self test and if all is good the screen will just return to off, if not it will spit out an error code, again IIRC 52 is blend door motor

hey as nannas_ed said do the diagnostic test.i just bought a el futura and the heater blew ice cold..i dont know how but i did the hold off and mode buttons together and presto my heater must have reset???cause now it works fine...

Hey i cant seem to get it into diagnostics mode.
Does the car have to be started or just in accessories? I have tried both and nothing works. Also how long do i hold the buttons and so on. because i have put my dash in diagnostic mode before and it had to be very precise. THANKS |
