Help on removing electric window motors.

A mate of mine is wrecking his EF Futura Wagon and i am buying the power windows, i've taken out the console switches and the wiring but we have been having trouble removing the motors off the doors, they look like they are pop rivitted in but i cant drill them out. Does anyone know how to remove them???

buy a NEW drill bit :D

you can cut the heads off with an angle grinder,
personally I've removed many, and it takes about 15seconds per rivet with a (I think 1/8th HSS drill bit).

try a small pilot hole first then use a larger one, however I have never used a pilot hole first i've been lucky I guess... just make sure ur hand is steady and true.

sometimes helps to punch the centre out of the rivet first

They are 6mm rivets so after punching out the centre, drill them out with a 6mm (1/4inch) drill bit.

Its easy, Punch the rivet through with a centre punch, other wise the drill will run everywhere and youll make a dogs breakfast of it. Then drill out the aluminium.

my 88 NA has the rivets, my mid 90 NA can be undone with a spanner .. is my newer NA aftermarket?

most likely, regs are known to fail and why would you stuff around with rivets when replacing regs?
