Okay, so originally I just wanted to hook my electric seats into the interior fuse box and use the fuse position of the speed sensitive steering (which I don't have, so is vacant).
But I've seen got under there and it is a jungle of wires, I can't even really get to the back of the fuse box. Does anyone know if the fusebox can come out at all? That's the only way I think I could get to the back of it. Or does anyone know of an alternative power source I could use for the seats and how to go about connecting them? I don't want to go direct to battery, because I think I can only manage someplace else within the cabin. Thanks all. p.s. Anyone know how I coudl get the seat to move manually back on it's rails? Because the guy at the wrecker has set it too far forward, so to bolt it in, I can't even get into the car.

if its right forward bolt the rear rails first then supply power to the seat and move back to bolt the front in

yeah why dont you use a car battery to move it back!
Fuse box comes out - there should be two large plugs that have a bolt in the middle! undo that and the whole plug will come off! They draw about 5amps from memory so just tap into something else if you want - ie accessories or something - but if you have you car stereo pumping while you move the seats you will blow the fuse! Id hook it up to the positive feed from accessories position on the key barrel!

You love those exclamation marks don't you nick, lol.
So you recommend using the accessories, but it may blow a fuse?

Factory wiring for the power seats are spliced off the main window power loom.
I guess this is because they use the window circuit breaker, rather than a simple fuse to monitor the circuit. I'd probably stick to splicing off the main window power as it comes from the factory. The you can just ground the black wire to the closest appropriate ground pont. |

Okay, observe the crude drawing folks. Is this basically how I'm to do it? If I'm going to get into the power window source, where is this wire I have to splice into, and what does it look like? Do I have to splice at a certain point on the wire (before/after a fuse or plug, where?) and do I have to fit any sort of fuse someplace?
Just don't want to blow my seats or anything else in the car. O o o, and where is a a fail-safe place to ground?

That will do it as long as its off the power window feed after the circuit breaker!

Well where is the circuit breaker mate? What does it look like?
And more importantly, where on God's green earth is the power window feed? lol. Can you just follow it from the power window fuse on the fuse box? Or is it a distintive one I could find without going into the fuse box (which looks difficult to pull out)?

largest mother in the fuse panel on the bottom right. its silver and have 30A on it.
ie: thermal breaker. however going from the 'fused pin on the breaker would enable constant power to the seats. This area is not controlled by the BCM. best place is the thick bugger in the body loom next to the seat itself.

Body loom next to the seat? Do you mean one of the wires that run along the right hand side of the car, next to the driver's seat, under the carpet? Would I need a fuse if I used that wire, and what does that wire look like? See? I'm a newb, lol. I would love to use the fused pin, it's just getting to the back of that fuse box which is a problem.

yes, the loom beside the seat on the rhs.
the Grey/Yellow wire is the correct one for the power windows and it is already thermally fused (fuse in the fusebox) However it is good practice to fuse everything you add to the car. so yes, why not add a seperate fuse for the seats. You might be better off gaining the power directly from the power window switch as theres room for your wiring and fuses etc under the 'cup holder'. once again, the Grey/Yellow is positive and you'll also get your earth from there too. look in the tech doc's for power windows iirc theres a small doc on the wires thats in tehre

Thanks. O wait on, black wire is ground, found it in the electric window tech document. Also in that document says that the yellow/grey wire is 40amps, does the affect the sort of fuse I'd have to use? I have 3, 5, 7.5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30amp fuses. Thanks for help, and thanks to Neo_Nick and arm79 too.

you only use a fuse that will cover the power of the seats - they wouldnt be drawing any more than 5amps id think

Well I got the driver's seat going, but I'm going to wait to do the passenger one because I need time to pull out the seat and make a tiny hole in the carpet to feed the wiring through. I took out the centre console to do the driver's side, and it was a fair effort getting that out. So I'm leaving that out till I paint the dash, which is another big job in itself, lol. Car is in manyy pieces atm.
