shoulda been more specific:
how to: fuse - buy from repco and into fuse box near the steering wheel? horn - how do i know if the actual horn itself is broken wiring - how can i tell - dont wanna rip up all the wiring.... if i just beeped it a couple times and the thing cut out then i'm guessing its not the wiring. where is the horn in the engine bay? maybe it has had it. thanks. |

What car do you have mate?
For my ED the horns are behind the front bumper in front of the radiator on the right hand side. They sound great now I'm running some air horns along side them.

my mate had the exact same problem a while ago, it turned out the horn was loose and wasn't grounding properly check the horn is secured tightly cause this is how the horn itself is grounded.
Also it may be a dodgy horn switch in the steering wheel. run lines from the battery straight to the horn to test this, if horn goes off horn is good and problem is either wiring, fuse or steering wheel. Since you should have checked the fuse FIRST i'm guessing that its either ok or has been replaced. Wiring wise there should be two wires going to the horn so also check both these are securely attached.

Go to wreckers, buy horn for ED and plug it in. Even if its not the horn, it'll only cost you $5. My horn wasn't working, so I just bought another one and it was fine.

If the fuses/relays are working, you should hear a clicking sound under the bonnet.

While you're there you might consider adding another standard horn like i did. I have a wreck for spares, but as mentioned above they would be dirt cheap anyway.
I just used two of those connectors that have an extra tang on them for the extra wires, and mounted a second one on the inside bumper, and voila, extra power to scare the birds off the road. I figure the std wires can handle the extra current, and a fuse hasn't blown yet. But maybe i should do a long honk for a better test.

my horn also stopped working recently.
haven't got around to fixing it. i miss the childish beeping at people walking along the street.
