^^^^^^Sounds more like the cruise control .
So if I'm stationary, and someone travelling >=25kmh has a head on with me, the SRS won't activate ?? The SRS is independent of the ECU and a VSS input.

I remembered the speed incorrectly . But the following is quoted from the manual.
Quote: The airbag is a supplemental restraint system (SRS), designed to be used in conjunction with the seat belt. The system uses three crash sensors located in various parts of the vehicle body. A crash sensor is located in the front of the radiator support panel, another inside the vehicle, below the front of the centre console and the third crash sensor is integral with the control module that is found above the throttle pedal.
In the event of of frontal collision in which the speed is is excess of 25km/h and at least two of the sensors send a signal simultaneously to the control module, the airbag is activated. That's what I've been working off, it may be wrong.

The computer reads off the cluster doesnt it???? Or does the computer have its own little special function to read speed??......like using the wheel sensors instead of the transmission speedo gear??? Can someone please clear this up for me?......someone who actually knows.

The limiter is in the ECU itself. It gets it speed from the cluster which gets it from the gearbox sender.
B series get the speed from the ABS system.

You will find Ray is correct. There is no VSS input to the SRS ECU. The reason 25km/h is quoted is due to the strength of the magnet that holds the trigger roller in each sensor. The roller wont detach itself from the magnet unless the vehicle speed is over the preset limit. That's what I've been working off, it may be wrong. |

That'd work too.
Either way, in this case, they went off. I was more showing the amount of damage caused when things go wrong at high speed - and this was tied down to a dyno.

wtf where can you get up to 180+? (stupid question have some balls and put your foot to the floor) i have an ef auto with a speed limiter cut out chip i have had my ef up to 230kph but i did it at 3am on the highway besides almost s**t myself thats all that went wrong i do this almost every couple of weeks for the last 18 months and shes still going strong. doing those kinds of speeds on the street is no new thing to the world. my brother owns an RX3 13B turbo pushing 450hp at the wheels its a high 9 sec street car we have done 300+kph on the highway. so i say yeah of course theres risks and yeah if you see another car dont keep pushing it take your foot off but hey if you have the balls to do it then all to you man lol oh and if your a P plater dont let your dad find out you cut the speed limiter in his car

The SRS module sensor is calibrated to operate at a lower impact force than the crash sensors - however, it confirms along with one of the two crash sensors, that a collision has occurred. I'm not sure what effect loss of magnetism over time of the sensors bias magnets has - I'd suspect the modules diagnostic system would operate the thermal fuse to stop inadvertant operation. Be interesting to test a 94 EF's SRS system though and see if it actually operates lower than the quoted 25kmh impact.

obviously looking at your age your young and stupid. what do you think will happen if an animal runs out infront of you? i had a fox eating roadkill on the highway right next to trucks not moving a month back. i didnt see it except the truck swerved majorly and we were only doing 100, so imagine 200+ and seeing an animal in the road. its enough to send you into a tree or head-on with another car... wise up buddy, most of us like living |
