I am trying to take my sub box out of the XR8 and I think I have to take out the side bolsters of the rear seat to get at some more brackets. How do I go about doing this? I know in the commodores you just pull like hell and they unclip from the car.

15mm spanner or a shifter to undo the rear seat bolts that lock into the rear folding seats and a 10mm bolt at the bottom of the bolster can get to it when you push the bottom seat down

I can see the bolt you mean at the bottom of the bolster when you push the seat base down. Which is the first bolt that you say locks into the rear seats? Do you mean the locking bar that sticks out the side of the bolster? If so this looks completely round so how do you get a spanner on there? The reason I am doing this is because I am getting the suspension done in a few weeks and they will need to get into the rear mounts. I think I have to take the side plastics off as well. I took some pictures to show you what I have got now. If they work.

I will have to check that out next weekend when I go to do it. Will I have to take the plastic out that run behind the bolsters in the first 2 pics to get to the shock mounts or can they be accessed just by taking the subs out? If I have to take them out do you know how?

just take out the plastic covers that you see in the 1st 2 piks if your just doing the shock mounts , no need to take the bolster's out .

Ok thanks for that. So are those round plastic things what hold them in? Are they just those push in xmas trees? Is it just those couple of things on the front of the plastic or are there other ones that you can't see because of the sub box?

yeah, they are just those little christmas tree things. there should be the two on the front and then two on the sides. towards the back more.
looks like your sub box might just cover the back ones though. |

maybe try and pull the front ones out and see if the plastic comes out. maybe the back ones were taken out before the sub box went in? worth a try.
