dont mean to nit pick here but seriously what would be the point of changing it over if nothing but the speedo works yes i know it looks better but maybe its just me i hate having somthing that doesn't work.
as for asnwer to your question i don't know what would be involved but i suggest go the whole hog el 4l el interior as said in the nike ad just do it lol i have done it and i LOVE it sooooo much more power soooooo much more fun[/quote] wouldn't it have been cheaper to just buy an el?? well now that i know its near impossible i think i may just give up while im not too far behind in saying this i now have an ef low series cluster that is un-needed so if anyone wants it they can have it for $30 |

before you decide not to do this consider a few things
1. All the guages can be wired up (like when putting a mid/high series cluster into a lowseries cluster car) 2. Talk to an auto elec no-one will know better than them how difficult 3. The smartlock can be bypassed by shorting a wire (again ask auto elec) When we put a mid series cluster into a EDGL (low series cluster originally) only speedo, fuel and temp worked (tacho worked but not properly). We took the car to a decent auto elec and these were working within a day cost about $100. Also we had a smartlock problem where the car wouldn't start we put the car in and 1hr later was fixed (by shorting wire)

you would be the first person to bypass smartlock with one wire.
And if you are putting EF/EL instruments into EA-ED then they all will not work as atleast one needs info from the computer via a digital signal. Ask me how I know, because thats how my whole interior changeover started.

the auto elec is dads mate and what happened is i connection in the smartlock module was not connecting properly, this mean't that to start the car you had to tap the dash near the handbrake (where the module is located). To get around this he removed the wire in question from the module and spliced it with another which in effect tricked smartlock into thinking everything was ok. (I watched him do this)
As for the instrumentation i admit i don't know a whole lot but my main point is still valid, take the car to an auto elec and get their opinion, if for nothing else than to get a quote for the work in case the job does prove too much for you

your going about it the wrong way..... the dash goes in first everything else after. Electric windows central locking and any other wiring ...carpet console door trims then seats.
You need as much space as possible in the car to do the dash.
