how long do you need to hold the earth wire to pin 4 for the reset to work, i thought you needed to hear 4 beeps, havnt heard any yet
still the light flashes in airbag light I keep getting error 34 Resistor or Passenger Airbag Shorted or low Resistance thanks |

If it's an EF, 5 seconds. It won't reset if you haven't fixed the problem...
If you have a PAB then check the connection. Otherwise EF Series 1 there is a resistor behind the dash on the right hand side. Series 2 there is a resistor roughly where the PAB should be (much easier to find) |

1) Switch the Ignition On
2) Allow the Code to be Displayed. 3) Apply a Short Circuit to the Airbag Memory Clear Pin of the Diagnostic Connector to Ground (See above Picture for further details). 4) The Code will be cleared after 5 Beeps have sounded. Repeat the Above untill all the required codes have been Cleared. Taken from the tech docs I have a funny feeling it doesn't work on EL and it needs to be cleared by the diagnostic computer at Ford |

On an EL it's behind the dash where the PAB would be (bright yellow cable running to it)

Take the glovebox out, shine a torch through the LHS hole - find the resistor mounted, pull it out and reconnect it, and see if the code is gone.
As mentioned, you won't reset it unless the 'fault' is fixed.

Ive looked for the resister with out much luck im posting couple pics of the glove box area, but the hole you mentioned has a metal plate covering most of it, and the only cable is the aerial lead, so i dont know where it is?
