Grab monster tacho. Throw in bin. Seriously, why do you need or want one.

does your engine rev past 7000rpm???
either way you might need a tac signal converter to run off crank signal to get it to work... as all au's have a taco not many people want to add a bling taco.. |

If you really need to fit a Monster tacho, then these are the steps you need to follow,
1) Join a Honda site 2) Go to Auto Barn and buy your Tacho 3) Pull your shirt out, slide you trousers down below your a*** and wear your baseball cap backwards or get a hoodie. 4) Sell the AU 5) Buy a Honda Civic 6) WAKE UP TO YOURSELF |

Whilst somewhat tasty monster tacos are bad.
Excessive cheese consumption will cause constipation.

You're going to need a couple of cable ties and a few metal drill bits.
- Find a good spot on your bonnet: what's the point in having a monster tacho if it still fits on your dash? If you want to go big, go huge. - Make sure that it will be positioned in such a way that it is directly blocks your line of sight to the road, so that you don't waste precious shift time moving your eyes from the traffic to the tacho. - Drill a couple holes and use these as anchor points to thread the cable ties through. - BE VERY CAREFUL! Under no circumstances should you connect the tacho to any wire that carries your rpm signal, or anything that serves any purpose for that matter. You might hurt yourself. Besides, you've already got a working tacho, this one is purely for wank factor. And you're done!

Ok guys I think he's learnt his lesson.
Iv always mounted mine on the a pillar just above the steering wheel, that way it's easy to see. Connect the signal wire to the hv side of number one cylinder, the positive from the tacho to the negative terminal to your battery and negative side from tacho to the positive terminal on the battery. I think it's best to get a 10" cannon muffler for the extra 23-40kw.

I've never seen the need because my stock tacho has always been sufficient. Even if in a matter of sheer lunacy your are spinning a stock block 347 past 6000rpm the stock tacho will be fine.

I've heard to get the best gains, your exhaust tip should be the same diameter as your tacho, so 10" should be okay. My mate did the same setup on his N/A VP Chevrolet SS running 40psi with a pod. Wow, I see why so many FordModders flame people on the forums. This is fun!

It's just the meer thought of a monster makes people annoyed/ urge to "flame"

Exactly, it's the concept of it, not the person wanting one. At the end of the day, it's your car. If you want 22" chromies and an exhaust that shoots fire, then go for it!

Hi,
It doesn't seem like many people like your idea...... Anyway, the older type of universal Tacho ran from the coil - distributor lead, it had a switch to set for the number of cylinders, 4 6 or 8. Most cars now have coil packs, so an older type of Tach wont work. ( it will but the calibration will be out by a factor of 8 ) Check the makers web site, and there may be a new type that will. If you just bought one it should have instructions. These days most cars are Auto's and with engine management it is hard to over-rev. They are only there because people want rather than need them. If you like big round dials, get some Tattoos on your GF's Tits, as on a road car a Monster Tach will attract mr Plod and you may get a defect. Regards 96ELGli

Firstly, i agree - in a street car these things are a wank.
But, if you do want / need one, you will need a MSD Tach Adapter. Look it up on Jegs.

Im going to be needing a moster taco or simmular for my EL 363 stroker because the factory taco only reads to 6000 and I will be spinning up past 7500, so my question is should I sell the XR8 and buy a honda? or just mount a monster taco or simmular?
last time I checked most hondas were missing 2 to 4 cylinders lol. Matt |

Matt There is a difference between having an engine that spins harder than the stock tacho reads and wanting one because your a a*** who can't see the stock one.
