I used self tapping screws. There's dimples in teh heaterbox already shows where the BDM shoul dmount to, try and get those right.

It wont work. You can mount it but the blend door motor requires a different shaft in the heater box. I'm doing the same thing to an EAII.
That's what been holding me up for 4 weeks. I'm just going to get an entire AC/heater box and install that. Cutting through the steel support to fit the fan speed controler is a pain too, so I'll get a climate control heater box and kill 2 birds with one stone. If you find a better way please post it up. The existing arm will prise off (be careful)it has a clip, either fit the specific arm on the shaft for the BDM, or modify the std one and refit. {USERNAME} wrote: I'm just going to get an entire AC/heater box and install that. Some guys have cut through it with a dremel for example - the plate is held in by 3 rivets, which can be drilled out - look for the 'block' shape castings in the heater box casing - the 3rd rivet is accessed by pulling the recirc air box.
Some more reading: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... sc&start=0 Pics: http://fordmods.datamine.tk/gallery.asp ... %20Control The majority of people on here have replaced the heaterbox with one fitted with CC, but I've done both my cars with the heaterbox remaining in. So I guess it's whatever parts you can get hold of, and personal preference. Removing the heaterbox in my XH was no advantage as some components needed relocating anyway.

modified teh standard arm
cut through the metal with tin snips. No need to do a heatbox swap.

Cool....Thanks for posting that info. I thought the top would come off the shaft, but mine broke. It was very brittle for some reason. I found the clip after I pulled it all out. I would have been stuffed anyway because it snapped off inside the heater box.
Oh well.....I've gone too far to turn back now, but at least gthofan will have an easier ride. I should have posted earlier. Thanks again, Chris |
