My mates EB has a leaking Aircon Evaperator and he would like to take it out himself to save some money. So is there much involved in removing the dash, would someone have a guide or some steps to follow.

The safest way is to get a Gregorys/Haynes book and follow there pointers.
Dont be afraid to have a go, the dash will come out as a complete unit quite easily.
Remove the console, drop the column and handbrake, and just start looking for the screws you need to undo.
There might even be a tech doco on here about how to do it.
Good luck. :D

still a poofter job :P lol hence why it would be so expensive to pay someone to do it. i know no labour costs as i've done all my car work to date myself, including maching of heads at work and i can assure you if i were paying someone to do it it never would have been on the road.

give it a go yourself but don't just give yourself a day to do it, you want a weekend at least, a full weekend devoted to the job at hand, better yet a long weekend, get a few mechanically minded mates over might cost you a carton or two of piss. still cheap labour !

hey mate seriously its a peace of piss i just done tha whole el interior into ea n its nowhere near as hard as everyone made it out to be

okay to get tha dash out from memory mite be other things ya av to do but on either side of the kik panels in the front take them off theres 1 bolt each side of the car

take the centre console out and right at the bottom of the dash in the middle under the centre console is 2 bolts then

theres a capping across tha top rite near the window wich is 2 allan key bolts and under that going from one side to tha other is a series of 10 mm gold bolts undo all of them

take the steering collum cover off and undo the 2 bolts holding in the steering colum and drop the colum

from memory i think thats it then the dash should pull out a bit if not no biggie just look for where its still secured and look for a bolt or a screw or sumthing ya always miss sumthin doin it lol

once u pull tjhe dash forward mark each connection with a texter so u dont mix up the plugs putting it bak in

now i think thats it hope i was of sum help to ya mate n good luck
