CAN ANYONE HELP WITH MY EF IGNITION BARREL THAT STICKS SLIGHTLY AFTER STARTING THE MOTOR. THE KEY HAS TO BE ROTATED TOWARDS OFF POSITION SLIGHTLY TO LET THE FAN BLINKERS RADIO AND WIPERS TO WORK. CAN IT BE LUBRICATED TO FIX OR CAN IT BE REPLACED BY ME, AND HOW.[/b]

I had the exact same problem an i fixed it.
I pulled my ignition barrel out an there is a plastic cap with all the connections on it that sits in the back of the barrel. It's spring loaded and needs to sit flush. Mine wasn't sitting flush as it had popped out from the tabs holding it in. I just pushed it back in an got a punch an knocked the tabs over to squash it back in place. It should work fine after that. Mine did.

Yeah my car is an EF as well. You just need to take the plastic steering column surround off and then you will see the ignition barrel. It has screws holding it on that have no head so it can't be easily removed so i cut grooves into them with a dremel and unscrewed them with a screwdriver. Once out all you need to do is what i mentioned before and it should work fine. Don't have to worry about codes or anything, just what i mentioned.

WELL I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TYPES FITTED TO THE EF STYLE THAT COVER A NUMBER OF YEARS (NOT THE OLD CUT TOOTH EARLY STYLE) WILL FIT BUT THE CODES HAVE TO BE CHANGED. THIS SOUNDS STRANGE TO ME AS THIS WOULD MEEN THAT I COULD MANUALY OPEN ANOTHER EF WITH MY KEY. DONT THINK SO.

you can lock any car with any key, but to unlock it you need the key that is specifically cut for that car/barrel
