hey, a while a go i got some cheap blue car neons which i put up under the dash a bit on the drivers side and passenger side. So it illuminates the feet kinda area. Atm ive got my 12v cigarette lighter runnin a 3 way switch which are running these two neons from inside my glove box. Im kind of a noobie wen it comes to electrical but i was wondering if there was a way to maybe cut off the 12v cigarette plug adapter bit on the ends of the neons and hook em up some how so that they come on wen i open my doors. Like the light on the roof does. Any help would be appreciated thanks. Oh yer and i was wondering how easy it is to wire up a cigarette plug into my bot, for when i have like an engel fridge or somethin in the boot. Haha oh yer while im at it one last thing. I have an ED and i was wondering when i open the boot is a light supposed to come on? I have to go around to the front and open another door to turn the light on in the bot. It would be heaps sweeter if a light came on as son as the bot was opened. Thanks for all your help in advance

no you cant cut the ciggarette plug of the neons. if you do they wont work. to have them come on when the dorrs open you need to wire them in to the courtesy lamps. look for a light that comes on when the doors open and wire them of that

NOPE! it depends on the neons most of the large ones have the transformer thingos built in near the tube and only have a fuse in the cigarette lighter peice. you'll have to open them to fidn out though. all the aepro ones that i have purchased and used have been like that. it's brand and model dependent though.
i've wired all mine to the interior light.

My old TV need the 12V socket pluged in to the cig lighter to work.

I cut it off, and spliced the TV positive into the 12V positive, the TV negative into the 12V negative and secured.

Thats all it took, it didnt need the plug anymore.

it can be done - as long as the transformer part is NOT in the ciggy plug. see my gallery - i ran them off the ignition barrel light, i.e on when doors open

if you open the plug, (usually by twisting the tip off) and you look inside it. Some plugs come in 3 bits, the screw off end, and 2 main parts that fall away. If there is a circuit board in there then yo cant really cut it. If there is JUST a fuse then you can cut it and add a fuse link to it then just hook it up the the lamps.

U can still cut it if its got a transformer but you will have to solder two wires to where the two pins for the cig plug. Then if it were me id just get a FAT bit of heat shrink and shrink that round the PCB. you can just tape it.

if your wanting to have them when interior lights are on only, you'r going to have to wire them to the interior lights or something. Forget wiring them to the ciggy lighter unless u then wire it back to the interior lights..waste of time. Yes boot light should come on when u open boot. Switch may be a little dodgy.
