i saw the doco on installing cruise. my car is an ef and it doesnt have cruise control. it says i need a new wiring loom to do this. does this require me to pull the dash out? anyone done this to a non abs vehicle? Is it that hard of a job and most of all is it worth the trouble?

cheers,.

you used to be able to purchase a 'addon' loom just for the cruise control
Im sure if you go to some wreckers they might have this 'added' part on a car of theirs.

in order to install it they just punched a hole on the drivers side loom gromet and used those crimp joiners to add it to the existing loom inside the car.

I believe the steering wheel button connections are already in place as its mearly ur horn but using resistance.

you should be able to track the info down with a max ellery's workshop book.

i read the doco and it seems pretty striaght forward IF you have abs fitted to the car, my question is what if it doesnt? where does this loom plug into? etc etc...

cheers mate.

The loom goes from the cruise actuator (monted next to brake master cyl) to the loom above the drivers footwell.
Solder the wires, do not use bodgy 'scotch locks'.
You will have to fit the steering wheel switches and cut out 2 sections of the steering wheel back cover.
I have a copy of the original fitting instructions for the EF and also the instructions for the non abs wiring sub kit. I can scan them and post them on here if you like.

That would be good if you could do that please.
Yeah, smally 351 summed it up well - the loom needs to be spliced into the large white connector blocks behind the fusebox.

Has anyone actually done this Mod?
I have just had a cruise control sent to me. It cam with the wire loom needed for a factory conversion. This wire loom will be a major install. Rplacement fuse box relays and more.

The above proceedure is much easier. But I would like confirmation.

Also any chance of getting a better scan of that last page.

Thanks Heaps

Tony

dazzat did the cruise control addition on his non abs equiped car.

It took a while but in the end it worked fine, I guess the hardest part was reading the diagram, as we couldn't enlarge it to a readable size!
