Gday im about to buy 2 Autometer ultralite II gauges (1 voltmeter and 1 oil presure) Im justing wondering what is the best way to wire them up??, i was going to do this a while ago but got side tracked. I think i need a oil presure sender or somthing for the oil presure gauge, but im not to sure. Any help would be sweet.

Cheers

Voltmeter only needs to be connected via the battery and needs to be grounded off. I wired mine up to the stereo power and made a new ground.

Doesnt your dash cluster already have a voltmeter and an oil pressure guage? if so what is the point on having two of them.

Yes you will need a oil pressure sender it replaces the switch, I have one you can have for $50 posted if you cant find one. As for lighting you will need to patch into the clock or trip computer wires and join into the dimmer wire or whatever its called, couldnt tell you off the top of my head what colour it is but Im sure itd be in the trip computer install doco. If the wires are detailed anywhere it should be pretty simple. If it was me though I wouldnt be f**k around with stupid f**k gauges just get a high series or tickford cluster with it built in then just plug the pressure sender in and voila all works. The nice tickford clusters can be had for around $100

Na i want to keep the cluster original. Im putting the gauges down bottom left side next to the steering wheel, so its not going to be wanka style.

Just a quick Q, im looking at the oil presure guage and there are electrical and mechanical versions of it, the elec is ~440 and the mech is ~130. What is the difference between them?? do they wire up different?

Cheers
