apologies if this topic has been covered before. i did a search and went into instant information overload with too much irrelevant info.

i bought one of the AU XR instument clusters with the blue facias that have been flooding ebay in the last few months. i finally got around to installing it in my AU1 XR6 ute and have the following problems;

speedo is severely inaccurate(which effects the DTE and odometer)
charge light flashes in place of the smartshield
fuel flap open warning light staying on(really handy on the ute)

i'm guessing the cluster was originally out of a XR8 sedan.

is there a fix or mod someone can point me in the right direction of? or simply do i have the wrong cluster?

thanks in advance,
Norm :)

mmm the only thing that should be diff is the tacho if out of xr8

the spedo should be fine as long as u have the correct spedo gear for diff in the ute

it could have come out of an AUII with smartsheild which may be the problem...

Well while the topic had been raised recently :P

I'm a bit puzzled at the moment, when trying to do a cluster upgrade. As im not really sure wether its a high series or mid series cluster.
Originally bought off ebay, description an AU2 XR8, so presumably it would be a mid series, yet when I checked to make sure it was working, it shows which car door is open, but its specific. Currently the passenger door opens the rear left door on the cluster due to the wiring not been done yet.
But in the doco, the XRs were all mid series, and fairmonths/fairlanes/LTD's were high series.

Thought it came with the original odometer chip from the previous car of 67,000km's, yet when connected it read 0km's.

The tacho works fine, from what I've seen, but I did also notice the speedo needle seemed a bit slower then my original cluster. I know the original cluster was out a little bit, will do a test on the new one at some stage soon.
