Alright i made my self a short shifter recentley and got a bit of interest in selling them,
just wanted to know how many people would be interested if i made more, price would be $35 plus postage. Now i'm not sure if these fit earlier models maybe someone in the know could let us know here

hey when u made it did u add length to the bottom or just cut the top cause it u mad it buy addind length to the bottom im interested.......opps sorry i 4 got that these are diff 2 the older ones. how much would it cost to get it sent to goulburn??

ea-ed ones are different, id be interested in on, hjow did you do it, cut and re thread or welding???

i just made it out of 25mm dia steel bar turned down the end on a lathe and threaded it then flattened the bottom on a mill. it's about 160mm in length including the bottom mounting bit. so overall way shorter than stock.
should be around $10 to goulburn buhyxr6. |

How much difference has it made to the length of throw. Do gear changes feel much shorter. If it has made a difference I may be interested in one as my gearshifts feel like I'm driving bus.

gear changes feel bout 30-40% shorter i reckon would give you a few thousands of sec to coz it feels much quicker thru 2nd-3rd gear especially.

The EA-ED/XH shifters come up about 1-1.5" then slope back, while the EF/EL shifters run 2 doglegs, sort of like a stretched 'Z'. Both gearknob positions are about same, except the EF/EL one sits level, not sloped. The earlier shifters may need a slight bend backwards even when shortened, may be something only confirmed by trial useage.
XR6 EF, have you tried experimenting with the insulator, maybe not running the rubber, or machining up a nylon replacement, perhaps, and see how that goes too. May improve shifting even more ??? Have a look at http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... sc&start=0

actually did try a nylon insulator instead but didn't
absorb the gear change vubration as well as the rubber and was a little noisy. but instead of large hole with the rubber filling it i just made them the size of the collet insert. So its sort of a midway between both. |

just had a look at that thread snap
And if anyone wants i can machine up some nylon if they want or make the holes 10mm to just bolt straight on and leave more steel there so you dont have to use washers, Up to personal choice but hard to choose without feeling both. i personally prefer the rubber insulator for the cushion of it but thers may want the racey(is that even a word?) feel |

Yeah, good to give some options - you may need to start up your own production line
