old post i know...but yer we need a lil more info on this. A lot of people have done it and more (myself ) are interested.
What paints have people used? Does anyone use some type of primer (as the can doesnt suggest it they say simply clean it properly 1st...ive been cleaning with metho to remove oils etc). I know it works well on airbags and things like that, but the gear knob, handbrake and various others ive also done now and im interested to see how it goes but if anyone could give a few pointers on what would assist it sticky (it seems great but someone might know better?! having had done it before). And yes...ive also done a search, lets get some fresh....ways to make the paint stick and what paints people have used...how they wear |

What Ive found works good on plastics, is the cheap a*** stuff you get from super cheap. Quick coatd of plastic primer, followed by 2-3 coats of the colour. If you want a really good shine, a couple of coats of clears works great.

I painted mine (http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6800
I just bought some paint from autobarn for $10 in royal blue metallic pearl, and sprayed 5-6-7 coats (cause im crap at spraypainting ) and imo, looks pretty damn good. Altho the color could be better. Try painting a undercoat to match the color, i would've but cbf'd. It looks pretty clean, altho you can see fingerprints on it and dust in the right light, but a wipe with a damp cloth gets rid of it. I didnt bother painting things that get used/touched often, as i figured theyd only chip and look crap, altho i do want to paint the steering wheel.

I used vinyl spray from supercheap to do my interior (as can be seen in my gallery) and I reckon it came up pretty good. I used it on the dash, doors, air bag cover, door handle surrounds and other interior vinyl and plastic bits. It comes up looking very factory and if you then put some armourall on it'll be nice and shiny. I did the actual instrument surround with $2 supercheap gloss black and that came up good too. No primer, just metho to remove the oils and crap.
