Ok started my interior uograde today.
Most of its just practice but looks ok. Started with stock 1994 EF Futura trim. Today I did the fabric around my rear driver side door. Picked up some black satin fabric from Spotlight, some craft glue and thumbtacks. Struggled with the door one, is there an easier way to get that fabric off? Anyway covered it in black, rear driver deadrest in the same fabric and the lid on the centre console is also black now. Took about an hour and a half but looks pretty good. Will post pics when fully done. |

how are you taking the fabric off? by pulling the trim off the door, then unclipping the fabric from the door trim? there are some metal tags which you unbend to take the fabric insert off - very easy & simple process. hehe i hope thats how you've been doing it! i just re-covered the rear 2 door pods as well - took a bit of effort to get the fabric just right, but you'd hardly know now

hehe you haven't been trying to re-do the fabric without removing the trims have ya? lol
to remove rear trims: -undo all screws around the outside - from memory, 8 of them? -remove triangular surround from 1/4 window - 3 screws, then unclips -undo screw inside small handle in door (small pocket thingy on trim) -pop clip off for door handle & undo screw behind it -unscrew manual window handle trim is then 'undone' - you will need to pop off - will pull out from the bottom, and you'll need to reach up underneath and pop out the top section by thumping it up - the section that clips down by the window. the more you take it off, the easier it gets. from there, you'll easily see the fabric insert from the back of the trim, and how to remove it easy! fronts are the same, except for the following differences: -armrests - you'll need to pop out the 2 rubber inserts & undo the screws behind them -pop off the door lock buttons - to re-do without them sticking up, you will need to pop them on, and then angle the trim so you can screw them down - you'll see the thread on the locking mechanism which they need to be screwed onto - lol quite a difficult process, but worth it so you don't have annoying locks which don't sit flush! -take out the small front triangular section above the trim -on the drivers door, disconnect the plug for the electric mirrors - you'll need to take the small button off (pulls off) and when you remove the trip, unclip the connector behind the trim that *should* be about all you need to know - the more you do it, the easier it gets! i'm doing mine once a week at the moment!

Oh ok thanks Bob. Wen I attack the other side of the door and car I will actually follow your gracious instructions.
I actually sorta figured that out but couldnt get one of the triangular screw undone so I did it the hard way. The front doors look tough so I might dedicate a day or two to them, maybe on holidays....what are holidays again? |

honestly - i can get the trims on & off within a few minutes eh - very easy to do - i had the back trims off, refitted the farbic insert, and refitted them back on, in under 20mins i'll be pulling my front trims off this weekend in order to fit my courtsey lamps - would you rather i take pics of what you have to do?

Yeah cheers Bob.
Had a go on the fronts today got stuck. Couldnt get the Smartlock thingy out, or he power mirrors and something was holding it on. I dont think I undid the screws behind the handle so I might try that another day. |

So let me get this straight... the door locks on the front door of the screw onto the rod? I have had both my door trims off, and cant get them to sit back flush.
Was all well and good untill someone locked it by accident and pulled the lock back up, but because it wasnt on properly, ended up pulling the button off. Ahhh, trying to find a little grey bit in long grass at midnight!! |

To get the door lock knob thing off a pair of multi grips and a rag will get it off, just pull up real hard cause if they haven't come off before they can be a real b**ch
Cheers Looking good!!!! |

lookn' good! i reckon black is one of the best colours to use on an interior - not offensive or loud, and blends in well but don't worry - the more you take the trims off, the easier get! i promise!
