ive recently changed all of my instrument lights to leds and ive noticed that the smartlock light is very faint, could this be that ive got the led the wrong way?

If the LED was the wrong way it wouldn't work.
Maybe a brighter LED is required!

Swap them around, maybe you got a dodgy one.

measure the voltage, if its not lower than normal, change the LED.

The Smartlock light is already a LED (EF clusters are anyway) and voltage reduction should be built into the board - if you replace it with another color LED install it without the resistor.

i had a look at the back of the cluster, and i realised that the smartlock light is an led, but it wasnt changed (its in a strange case) which i cant replace without ripping it out somehow, but it isnt lighting up properly, could this be because of the voltage reduction, and what could cause the voltage drop?

Did you make your own LED's or did you use Narva LED's?

LED's run at lower voltage, hence why we fit the resistor to them! |
