okay i just recieved my shiftkit and would like some ideas on where i should put the toggle knob and switch?
i have seen them put just in front of the cup holders and it is the most practicle, but i would like it a bit more inconspicious but accesible? any tips, it's for a EF Gli

I was thinking of making mine activate via a relay instead of a switch, and the relay would activate when the pedal was more than, say, 1/3 down.
That way i could get regular feeling driving when i'm in grandpa mode, and instant chirps when needed at an instants notice, without looking for a switch Just curious, how aggressive are they when changing down? Do they feel aggressive when they go from 2nd to 1st when pulling up? And are they frowned apon by insurance?

i'm pretty sure the insurance companies don't go looking through your car, well they didn't for mine.

Yeah the insurance company might not go looking through your car when they give you the insurance... but my old flat mate had a 300ZX Twin turbo... and didn't mention that it was twin trubo to the insurance... few months after wrote his car off smashin both his legs... insurance company walked away from it...
The moral of the story is make sure you disclose performance mod's to insurance... or else you can end up in a bad situation. Not that i'm hoping that anyone has an accident but it is better to be on the safe side Thats my 2c worth How did the install go? Any pic's? |

dont switch it on and unless the car is stopped, i was told that if switched while moving the car can go into limp home mode.
dont worry bout switching off all the time, it really only has an effect if the car is high in the rev range. i leave mine on in econ mode and get 80km/h at 1300rpm. bit guttless at such low revs tho. |

I have my switch on the centre console inline with the drivers seat so if I were to be pulled over (A) its hard to find (B) use the exuse that its a power switch for the UHF.

Well it's all in and the cruise control, only had a bit of a prob with the brakes as when i put the brake sensor in it sucked in some air, and i proceeded to bleed all the brakes and still had fk all on the brake pedal, so i released the sensor got the missus to depress the pedal and voila bubbles, so i kept going until all gone and the pedal was hard again.
and man oh man does that shift go hard!!!!! coming up the hill it chirped into 2nd but i don't have the required power or the guts to stiffen up the changes to chirp on the flat ground. How hard can you actually set it? i gave it some schtick and it's fast and i also switched it on and off a few times while driving and had no probs, but when i pulled in the drive i think i could either smell the brakes or the tranny coz somethin was smellin a bit off lol.

i tend to as with driving a manual car i make sure i am in the gear i need before going around a corner and i am only using this kit on the straight as i have never found my car changing up gears going around the corner........ lol no it doesn't feel C***, it's actually quite nice.
