So did you order T3, T4 or T5's from that seller on ebay?

It looks great by the way. There was another fella on Ford Forums that did this using a narva blue sleeve but I would rather go this way.

Do you have any tips re: getting to the globe?

Yeah blacklights, and yep stuff glows.

Some stuff you wouldn't expect either.

At least it's easy to check if your cash is legit or not.

Hi flacco54,
I have just done the changeover to all LED in my EL ghia, but haven't got to do the dash, ignition or gear selector yet. It's easy except for the glovebox and front and rear reading lights. They are B9S bulbs and Ford has chosen to reverse the polarity so you need to do some soldering, etc with these.Well worth doing though-it looks so much better.

The globe is 10mm diameter and 12mm high, hence went for the T4 option in the auction.

I'm pretty happy with the results. I didn't want to do the sleeve option, that's more of a last resort if I couldn't get the globe I wanted.

Getting to the globe is fairly easy.

1) Under the steering column, lower the adjustment lever.

2) Move the steering column all the way out (towards you) and down (towards your feet).

3) Under the steering column are 3 Phillips Head screws (2 close to your knees, and another further down near the pedals). Remove all three screws.

4) With the screws gone, the plastic housing around the steering column needs to be removed. It actually 'splits' in the middle. Put one hand on the top half and another on the bottom half and it'll split open.

5) You can now see the clear plastic that holds the globe and key validator. It is held in by one phillips head screw and one cable. Unplug the cable, remove the screw, and the plastic unit will simply drop off.

6) The rest should be fairly self explanatory to get to the globe (well, it will be once you remove the small unit). Just use a small flathead screwdriver to open the unit and get to the globe (it simply twists out). Put in a new globe then reverse the procedure to re-install.

Glad to help.

Don't know about the left over globe. I'm hanging onto mine regardless.

Take your time with the installation, especially once you remove the plastic unit inside which houses the globe and the key validator. The globe is screwed into a circuit board (see my previous pictures) so you need to be a little careful in removing it and putting in the new one.

I just found this thread. Awesome!

I shall be copying you immediately.

I'm also going to work on the rear passenger map lights and split it into two globes - when on courtesy, the Blue LED will come on, when switched on manually for MAP reading, the White LED will come on.

The centre courtesy light is already bright blue. And the door courtesy lamps (when they go in) will also be changed to blue.
