Good work. It's amazing what a difference a change in LED color makes when it matches the rest of the dash. Good stuff!

You know, looking at a pic from vertg0's car earlier, I clearly need a better solution under my drivers footwell. The current T10 globe under there is twice as bright as the one under the passenger footwell, but because the fuse panel cover partial obscures it, it's hardly lit up under there at all.

Also, with the rear footwell light, I'm having a hard time finding a blue T10 LED that points out the side. I've got a White Ba9S side-pointing globe, so I'd hope it's possible. (Maybe if I just swap the LED. Hmm). The current T10 globe I have in there is a 6-LED pointer-upper, so most of the light gets wasted lighting up the inner guts of the rear outlet air register.

This is why when it came time to install footwell illumination in my car, I stayed clear of using standard LED globes. The light just goes all over the place and is easily blocked off, making for uneven light distribution. Neon tubes are most definitely the best solution in my opinion, giving the car a "glow", rather than a pin-point bright light source.

CCFL's available from your local jaycar.

They're like mini fluro tubes. Available in colours too. I currently use white ones (2) in my boot.

So did you order T3, T4 or T5's from that seller on ebay?

It looks great by the way. There was another fella on Ford Forums that did this using a narva blue sleeve but I would rather go this way.

Do you have any tips re: getting to the globe?

The globe is 10mm diameter and 12mm high, hence went for the T4 option in the auction.

I'm pretty happy with the results. I didn't want to do the sleeve option, that's more of a last resort if I couldn't get the globe I wanted.

Getting to the globe is fairly easy.

1) Under the steering column, lower the adjustment lever.

2) Move the steering column all the way out (towards you) and down (towards your feet).

3) Under the steering column are 3 Phillips Head screws (2 close to your knees, and another further down near the pedals). Remove all three screws.

4) With the screws gone, the plastic housing around the steering column needs to be removed. It actually 'splits' in the middle. Put one hand on the top half and another on the bottom half and it'll split open.

5) You can now see the clear plastic that holds the globe and key validator. It is held in by one phillips head screw and one cable. Unplug the cable, remove the screw, and the plastic unit will simply drop off.

6) The rest should be fairly self explanatory to get to the globe (well, it will be once you remove the small unit). Just use a small flathead screwdriver to open the unit and get to the globe (it simply twists out). Put in a new globe then reverse the procedure to re-install.

just checking because your ebay listing has ended but would this work, its a BA9S 5 LED SMD T4W 1895? I really wanna do the same sorta mod cause yours looks s*** mint and soudns prety easy to do
