Hey guys.

Inspired by hyena's dash mod i thought i would give it ago.
I got a 8" LCD from here. Cost me $110.

I have always had alot of trouble mounting this thing and always got annoyed because it wouldnt stay in place.

Seeing what Hyena did just made me get off my a** and do something. So i did.

Today i went down to supercheap and got some plastic putty.

Got home and started to hack up the old stereo suround. I also cut up the old casing for the LCD.

And now i have glued the LCD case to the stereo surround.

Next is to start re-enforcing the surround, making the old casing stronger and using a bit of putty on the bastard.

Here are the pictures i have taken so far.

well i started to bog it as a test with the bog. Will get some more pics up soon.

Now i realise that the bog is going to be a major part and has to be right.

But i am unsure what i should to around the bottom because there is an inch that the original dash doesnt cover.

you are prob just goin to have to mould it smouth with fiberglass or just filler filler will work fine its just goin to be very time consuming i dont think there will be an easy way around it dude

I think its great fun and people should hava a crack at it. I wouldnt mind a 10" version or something to go where the aircon is. Move the trip computer to under the stereo (who needs a ash tray), and put the rear dem switch else where.

Wait until you're finished and see if you're still recommending it
You've got an easier job than me though because you're using a dedicated LCD screen to start with so you don't have the issues I did with the hacked dvd player.

The bottom bit is a bit time consuming though, I built it up bit by bit and as I said to you in PM, it's hard working with such thin bits (the LCD and radio surround bits) because they'll flex and crack the bog as soon as you start sanding, or look at them sideways :P

Thats right. The screen is easy to place and all that because there arnt any wires like you had to work with. The only thing illhave like that is the video input which i am changing from 3.5mm jack to RCA.

As u said one of the hardest parts is the plastic. Because its sooo thin it will crack and f**k up because its too thin and flexiable. I also thing the base if going to be a hard one to crack.
