hey all
freaken boot keeps leaking on me still - i drained 3" from the wheel well a few weeks back, and have discovered the problem - as you can see from the attached photo, the car doesn't drain in the tracts between the side panels & the boot - hence the water builds up, and then overflows into the boot, causing the car to smell, and me not want to fit my sub & amp  can anyone please shed some light on this issue, and what i can do to solve it?

get some sand paper and make some tracks for water to go down?

it should run back to the rear ... could it be your car is lower at the front than it is at the rear and leaning forward? hence all your draining is f**k up.
And Chuckzwipe I hope you weren't serious at suggesting sand papering a car.

You may need a new seal around the boot. It may look fine but if its not sealing properly a new seal should end up being in 100% contact with the edge.
The only time it should leak is if you pour a bucket of water on the rear window and it fills up above the rubber seal or has enough force to allow water past. Rain should not let water in no matter what. I would go with replacing the seal or checking for another area that may be letting water in. Could also be window seal and water is coming in under the parcel shelf. Hide youself in the boot with a torch and have a trustworthy mate get the hose on it with an amount that would simulate rain and have a really good look. Cheers |

i think the idea of the front of your car being lower could have something to do with it! otherwise, if its only that spot leaking, perhaps put a dash of silicon there and see if it still leaks if you not keen on replacing it all

its actually flowing over the top of the seal though - thats the issue!

whack a hose on your rear window turn it on... and see wtf is going on?
its probably the angle thing?

Its flowing over the top of the seal? Thats like an inch from the bottom of the channell. It should well and truly flow toward the back of the car and out. Do you park your car on a slope and the front of the car is lower than the rear? That is about the only way it will go over the seal. |

yeah if you remember a while back, mine was doing the same thing, you open the boot, and it would turn into niagra falls .
what i did to fix it was lossened the boot light nuts, and moved the boot over to the left about a 1mm Now it don't leak anymore

My sisters is doing the exact same thing in the exact same place in the exact same part of the country
When you say boot light nuts, wheres that exactly? My sisters car has to be parked on a fairly acute angle at the moment, nose forward, water can't drain forward into the rear wheel well can it? Whats happening as in Ugly Bob's case is the waters building up on that side and coming in over and through the bottom of the seal, which silicon has failed to fix. |

Thanks. My next dumb question
 , is, is water supposed to be able to drain forward of the boot area toward the rear wheel arch, or does it all have to somehow find it's way down the rear lights?
