What would you suggest i use to get a nice blue effect that is visible in day?

a clearer (more translucent) plastic. or a significantly brighter LED.
Hyena, can source some uber bright 8mm LEDs.

i was thinking of putting in LED's what are the basics? I reckon i could handling the soldering part of it

picking the right resistor, and connecting them the right way - they only work on way.

i used the folder trick but found that using clear folder cover wrapped in celofene was way better i made mine red and looks great in day and night ended up doing this to both odometer and clock in my car
