Im hoping to run LED's from the park light power source, ive measured the voltage and it is 12 volts, firstly just so i know are all the light sytems running off 12 volts? but what i would love to know is whether leds can run off this, if so, what resistors do i need and what other things are required. type of wire, brightest blue leds (in perth) and type of resistors.

LEDs are just diodes, but different LEDs have different voltage handling capabilities (obviously). Everything in your car (unless its circuitry) will run off 12V.. so you'll need whatever diode, and a 390R-470R resistor (390 ohm to 470 ohm)... and then just wire it in.

searching helps us all in the end coz i got sick of ppl telling me to search before asking.

just remember the 12V increases to 14.4V when the alternator is running! I always get resistors to suit 14.4V application just to be safe!
