Most door switches are an earth out system as in the light has a positive feed to it all the time .And the switch is the earth but in your case the body control module is the earth and the door switch is just telling the bcm to turn on the earth to the interior lights.I hope I explained this properly.Cheers Kevman.

yeah kinda does. i wanna run an LED strip off just that switch but its not gonna work. not enough volts coming through that switch. will either have to find another place or run a separate power line.

the interior lights have constant battery positive and BCM switched earth. if you take the cover off your interior light and discover what wire color you have you can find that wire color at your bcm and just tap into it for your led lights.

Body Control Module.

What they are saying is that it will in fact work - Connect 12v to your LED Strip, and then connect the Gnd on your Light strip to the Light wire. Should then turn on.

Residual voltage may be an issue for you - you may have to isolate the door switches using a diode.

how do you get to the wiring behind these door switches? is it easier to come in from behind, or can i pop them out from the front? or is it easier to intercept the wires from somewhere else? thinking of doing the old blue neons in the footwell mod to my ride.....

There are 2 wires in the centre console which would be suitable for what you want. They were originally put there for the light that sits at the end of the console in the higher grade models .I don't remember the colours but they are easily reached by removing the ashtray and trim.Someone else may be able to help you further with the colours of the wires.Cheers Kevman.

The plugs/connector is located behind under the ashtray in front of the gear shift and yes they are activated by the door switches. You can find which wires by using a testlight.power is easy but the earth through the bcm you can find by putting the testlight clip to a positive feed and testing each wire.Shut your door switch and the negative will fade away with the interior light.Kevman.
