Anyone got any great ideas on how to stop the little bar on the cup holder from dropping down all the time....keep slipping down and spilling my drinks! s**t me to tears.

I want it to click in nicely - not be as loose as a hookers t***. Im sure someone in the Fordmods clan has come up with a you-bewt fix. So share...

Yeah - Im sick of holding it up though. Gotta be a more permamnt fix?. I reckon its common falcon problem that someone has already tackled.

Prove me right boys... :P

Yeah, I had a gutfull of it - there's a number of methods, but this what I did a while ago:
1. Cut a notch in the cupholder arms at full extend position. You may need to trim them to get the fingers to lock in.
2. Drill some holes and fit some strong cord(fishing line may be best) - I used aircraft lockwire.
3. Find and fit something to use as a button.
4. Setup your cord/fishing line, etc as per the pic - you'll need to drill holes in the fingers as well. You may need to adjust tension to achieve the desired effect. You'll need those holes near the button to give leverage on the cord.
5. So when you raise the cupholder arm, it locks in - to break the lock, press the button :P

You might want to add some small return springs to the fingers to aid locking. Took me about 4 hrs to make (most time was designing it), and bits and pieces I had in the garage. It's been fitted for about 10 months now - works fine.
Fairmont and non power windows cupholders will need to be done differently and maybe use a different system to achieve same.

underneath where the legs are that hinge on all i did to fix mine (ef fairmont) was to melt part of the legs n melt a lil of the plastic to make a heap more resisitance to stop the cup holder arms falling down n drinks going everywhere... coke/ants and cars dont mix... cost nothing to modify and now the drink holder works as it should do...was a 15 min job...
