Im just getting sick of fixing them, you would have thought id learnt form having an EA fairmont, basically the fronts drop down about 5mm in the door, ive read on the forum about greasing the slides, but id like to know what causes the misalignment in the first place

Both the manual and power window winders share the same s**t design so even if you go back to manuals you'll still be replacing them. The upside though is that without the electric motor, the manual winders are about $100 cheaper but you'll need to replace a few of them before you recoup the cost of replacing the door trims (which will no longer match the rest of the car) as well as the centre console insert. It's not worth it IMO. If you really want to go back to manuals then a better idea would probably be to sell the Fairmont and buy a GLi instead.

hit the nail on the head! agreed its not worth the $$ the whole reason why we have fairmonts is for power windows etc!
