My doors seem to go mental sometimes...when they get locked/unlock they go all possessed and constantly lock/unlock for a random length...somtimes only a few cycles but sometimes they go more than 10 or 15 cycles! It is quite random and goes away for a few weeks but keeps coming back. Any ideas?
EDIT - This happens when using the keyfob or by pushing down the knobs on the doors (the ones on the front doors)...I'm pretty sure it doesn't happen when using the button on the console or if you open a locked door using the handle. EDIT II - These are normal factory central locking

When you find out let me know. My xh does exactly the same thing. It seems to think the doors are open except for when u use the key to lock it.
I just gave up and park it in the shed every night!!!

I know my old man old EF used to do this in the heat, the car would just s**t itself and would do it constantly, i remember gettin back to the car after being shopping and there it was, locks goin up and down for ages, i mean like 5 mis minimum, before the old man made an attempt to open the door mid cycle.
Cant remember what the end solution was, I think he may have had the central locking replaced.... Not sure though, will ring him and ask.....

This was the same problem I had and fixed it by replacing door latch assembly on the passenger side. Im not sure of the exact name but it the assembly which is attached to the actuator and the door handle. For some reason, it was not travelling enough to pull/push the actuator and therefore confuses other actuators as being open when its supposed to be closed. Try to remove it and check what is stopping it from travelling upwards and downwards.
I hope this helps.

Yeah it started to happen in the heat but now happens every month or so.
john_jay... I think I can relate to that passenger door problem coz wen my passenger door is open, the interior light doesn't come on...but comes on for every other door! So could be somethin wif the door that keeps the BEM thinking that the door is open (while trying to lock it) so it reopens...

So could be somethin wif the door that keeps the BEM thinking that the door is open (while trying to lock it) so it reopens... Interior light is activated by the switch on A-pillar. You may have a dirty contact. Try cleaning it. If the problem still persist then try removing the rod that connects the actuator to door lock assemply and try closing and opening the door. If the problem dissapears then that indicates your door lock assemply is stuffed. It should freely travel up and down to a certain height as the actuator had limit switches inside to indicate that door is in full lock or unlock position. If actuator cannot fully push or pull the plunger into its proper position, then the BEM thinks that one of the door is either closed or open therfore BEM will tend to return back to its previous state. When this happens, it will keep trying to close and open but cannot succeed because one of the actuator cannot reach its full height to activate the limit switch within the actuator.
