I have a very wierd problem with my car. The aircon will work fine when I am driving normally.
When travelling at over 120 km/h, the direction in which the air will travel will change from wherever it is set (usually face) and will come out the screen. What is the reason for this and what do I have to do to fix this.
Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers,
Chris

it might be a vacume leak, i have heard that if there is one, the direction of the air will change as the driving conditions change. Which is similar to what you are experiencing. I am not 100% sure though

Mine does this when i really put the boot into it...So when it is under heavy acceleration up hill and there is a heavy load the air con slows down and blows at the screen rater than out the ports...

I always thought that this was a factory thing...just what i have come to expect...have never known any different from my EF

Tim

that must be a vacume leak. Its not meant to change no matter how you drive it.

this fault happened to me
i connnect the vacum hoses under the bonnet around the wrong way
i mixed up the vacum supply hose to the vacum system with the one that goes to the heater tap
one hose is green and the other is black
i think the black hose goes to the heater tap

There is a topic in here only weeks old by me with some very good answers. go have a read!

Basically I recall it may be the "one way" valve under the hood or it could get worse

I have same problem and am planning on checking it after the hectic footy and booze weekends are done!

THis is most definately a vacuum leak. The leak can be anywhere from behind the dash to under the bonnet. Mine was at the heater tap, the hose was split at the very end, the heater tap only gets vacuum to close it, ie when using cooling, so for me the problem was only there during summer.

It is a deliberate saftey feature that the air will be directed to the screen (for demisting) if there is a vacuum problem.
