Hey all,

Just thought I'd post up some pics of my Black console mod I did over the past couple of days in my EL XR6.

Summary as follows:

Main dash fascia (including trip computer & AC controls), shifter surround, and XR6 badge insert removed & sprayed with Satin Black 'VHT penetrating colour dye',

Black AU gearknob & Black EL GT shift boot.

Pics below ...whaddya reckon, neat eh?

it would look better if you had black EF buttons where the surround is and a black steering colum shroud

Yep, this is why the EF is better, easier to spray paint your interior black, lol. Having climate control unit will make it possible to paint that section black too hey? I gotta get around to this one day.

Anyway, nice start there mate, hope there is more to come.

Thanks guys,

Yeah, just need to replace some buttons with Black ones now ...I can get them from wreckers quite easily.

Don't forget that these shots were taken with a flash at night, so the contrast between Black & grey is actually enhanced ...in daylight it definitely isn't as in-your-face, in fact it's actually very subtle and looks MUCH better!

Will post up some daylight shots later.

I've tried to be selective with what / where I've sprayed ...i.e. only easily removable & REPLACEABLE parts ...hence why I haven't sprayed the whole f**k dash & door trims, hehe.

Will see how I go with what I've done so far in terms of the dye durability ...and then we'll see.
