At night they worked really well. However I did do it differently to most to get it to look that good at night.

I made up a sandwich of the face layer on top, a transparency layer with a black set of guages with only the markings allowing light through, and the bottom layer was made from frosted plastic with the relevant holes cut in all layers.

Wow........ must of taken a while... nice job. Got an idea of using uv paint and changing all the dial/main dash globes to black /uv lights... see how it goes..

Finally got round to giving this a go...

3 hours later... (1 hour of that was spent re-learning Photoshop  )

Doesn't look like I did much but I'm thinking "less is more!"

I made the Carbon Fibre pattern myself :) and fiddled with the FPV logos for ages til I got a good one.

What do you think?!

Has anyone tried putting the transparent needles on an EA-ED dash?

I'm thinking of buying a cluster just to play with..

MoNGoose, you're going to want a higher res FPV logo.

Other wise
simple = good
carbon fibre = good

I like it (anything with cf I like).

You got a higher res FPV logo?

The problem with that "logo" is that it's just a cut out I made with the Magic Wand tool of the FPV logo on the BF GT cluster with a few effects added.

I can tell you now it won't work.

They are completely different in the design and operation, so no go I am afraid.

Here's one with a Ford logo and blue instead of grey... thoughts?

Anyone got a high-res pic of the Tickford logo... I want to try that one too.

Like your Ford one, you know with a back mask, you can make it glow at night (like B series XR/FPV's do, I did this to my EL too).

Data, with your black mask, did you cut out the individual speedo marks or does just leaving them as white show through enough?

Has anyone tried printing these onto an overhead transparency?

@Boppo, no need to cut out the mask. Regular paper (80GSM) is fine. I actually printed the mask layer onto the back of the top layer - so there's only one sheet of paper involved (remember to mirror image the mask layer to print on the back)

@MoNGooSE, won't be any good, the clear bits will show through the ugly insides of the cluster. Unless you mean just for the mask layer, in that case I don't see why not.
