A real good combo is to use thin glossy paper (as said) and use the plastic cover from one of those ring binders you get cheap as from newsagents etc. Cutout the original template shape then put the thin glossy print out over that, looks very bright at night and looks proffessional. You choose a binder in the colour you want your cluster to light up as, red and purple look real impressive but I used blue in the end.

I doubt it would turn out well as no light would be filtered and the whole cluster would be lit up but unevenly from the different colours in the pattern

I think if you were using a plain/solid coloured template the binder thing might just be the ticket.

Yeah it definately works and lights up evenly, cheap and easy and saves f**k round with LED's etc. I used the Fmont ghia design template that the dude who started this thread designed (cheers), Everything is blue bar the needles which are red. Binder won't work for the standard background cause the blue filters out the orange parts of the redline etc. I will post a pic. sometime down the track the cars stripped out at the moment. Give it a ago, can't go wrong.

Another dude has started a thread on using a binder cover for the background colour. Have a gander at that for an idea of how it looks.

How do you get that orange film/colouring out of the cluster? I'm also trying to get it out of where it lights up in the gearbox (i have an ED auto sedan)...

Does anyone have any tips?

Low and mid series uses the same templates. Only the hitgh series (Fairlane and LTD) used a different template.

ie. they all have the oil and voltage guages on them. Only the low series didn't have the mechanicals to use them.

i think i failed to explain, its for a XG, uses the same as ea, and it only has the fuel on the left and temp on the right and speed in the middle, oh and the speed only goes up to 200 unlike the 220 on the mid series.

Theres alot of space on this dash face that can be used and i was wondering if someone has done one for this coz it would look pretty good. Iv got all my other gauges done external ie. Tacho, oil pres/temp and voltage. so i have little interest in changing the dash.
