just browsing through tech docs.. as i shall be doing some soon. and saw this........

Quote:
Please Note : If choosing a Blue or Green Colour Instrument Cluster on a EL/NL/DL Model Falcon, the Needles on the Instrument Cluster will not Illuminate Brightly !
This is due to these Needles having an Orange Filter Backing on them, and as such, they Filter out most of the Blue and Green Light created by the LED !
This means that at night time, the Needles may / will not be visible.
There are two possible solutions for EL Falcon/Fairmont owners.
1) Use Cluster Needles from an EF/NF/DF Falcon/Fairlane/LTD.
2) Use Red, Orange or Yellow LEDs for the Instrument Cluster.
3) Remove the Orange Backing on EL cluster needles, by carefully scraping at the back of the needle.
This will make the needle completely clear, allowing you to use white paint, or liquid paper and the back of the needle, to change its colour to white.
Quote:

it says too scrape the orange backing off the cluster needles, which will make it completly clear. which should make the needle display white. but in the pic the needles are blue. do u just not paint the back of the needles and leave it for the blu light to come through?? (blue light behind) just not 100% sure on whats going on here.

cheers

Autobarn have them. For blue the part number is 47902 (from memory, might be wrong). Expect to pay about $30. for a pack of ten.

i can see that u have said that u got the LED's narvas', is there any real differnece in these from price, brightnes to the jaycar ones and the oatley electronics ones (as posted in tech doc)
up here in newy, i dont think we dont have a autobarn, but we do have a jaycar.

where can u get the oatley ones from, as in the doc, it says they are the best ones. or are the narva's better?

whether that makes sense i dunno.....

basiclly which one out of the 3 would work the best

1. jaycar
2. narvas
3. oatley

thats better!! more simple... lol

just looking at the jaycar website.

what should i be looking at:

1. LED 5MM BLUE 1500MCD CAT. NO. ZD0180
2. LED 3MM BLUE 3000MCD CAT. NO. ZD0132
3. LED 5MM BLUE 5000MCD CAT. NO. ZD0182
4. LED 5MM BLUE 900MCD CAT. NO. ZD0184
5. LED 10MM BLUE 4500MCD CAT. NO. ZD0215

i was thinking LED 5MM BLUE 5000MCD , but not sure.

also then depending on what size LED i get, the bulb holders coresspond with the size of the LEd yes? 5mm LED = 5mm bulb holder??

im sure i will have more questions, as i havent done this before and just making sure.

and before everyone flames me, i am only getting the parts, as my mate if fitting it all up, so i dont piss him off, so i wanna make sure i get the right parts.
