well its a bit of a personal thing, it all depends on whether what you want them to do.
ive got mine on a 3 way switch so they can come on when the doors open, stay on all the time, or turn off completely. just make sure the tubes have a good casing around them, cos there real prone to being accidentally kicked. |

yeh i mounted mine right out of the way of peoples feet.
I got 2 in the front and i just hooked up 2 for the back, there wired in to the interiour lights and they came with a switch so i can turn them completley off. Look awesom at night though

just make sure you mount the tubes where they cant be seen.
looks really tacky if you can see the neon tubes.

cheers ive spliced mine into the back of the ciggi lighter. no you dont have to take the whole console out just the cd/radio surround. you will see there are two screws mounted just underneath the air vents. take them out and the surround should come out easily

SUPPER CHEAP that is where I got mine .I spliced into the back of the cig lighter aswell. then ran the wires along the center consol put in a normal swich through into the center compartment and then mounted them (4) under the seats.1 forward 1 facing back both sides . looks great at night .Also the swich lights up so you know if they are on in the day time.

i've heard its not recommended to leave neon lights on for more than 2 hours at a time and might overheat??? therefore a switch is a good option to have.

yeh couldnt be bothered with re wiring it to anything, i have them in the front footwells too, they look awesome there, but iv just got them plugged into the ciggy lighter atm, cant be stuffed cutting wires for them, cause iv had bad experiences with cutting neon wires when they need to be plugged into ciggy lighter cause they dont work afterwards!!!

The reasons a lot of neons dont work when the wire is cut is to do with where the starter part of it is + any resistors nin line.
You may need to take apart the cig plug and solder some positive and negative ccables on instead, thats what i did with everyone in my boot. SUPERCHEAP make a 20cm thin neon in red, blue and green they work very well, are easy to mount and are only $11. I have 4 inmy car, it is a good idea to have them on a switch. Just run the positive through it and your done. You can tap into the cig lighter power if you have no other source readily available. It pays to ensure there is a fuse somewhere in the system though.
