i now have a NL dash wiring loom. But i have a NF climate control module. The NF one plugs in but i am unable to test it yet. Will it work? Some older threads say yes and others say no

I dont think so. EF and EL are different, so I am assuming that NF and NL are different as well.

What colour and part number is the vacuum solenoid unit, e.g. 96DA and blue, or 94DA(or earlier) and black.

I take it you've read this: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21338 , by the sounds of your earlier posts.
I've tested EF & EL dash units with the 96DA blue vaccy solenoids, and they work fine. Can't advise you on the earlier black units. The other thing I've noticed is some of the voltages from the dash unit to the ECU are different between the EF GLI/futura ECU's and the EF Fairmont ECU's. EL ECU's seem to be all the same. I can only advise you to plug it in and test it - going off the above thread, the vent positions will be a*** about, but shouldn't do any harm electrically, e.g. fry the unit or anything. Ask arm79 if he knows more.

bloody oath, thats some tecky s**t going on there
so in theory, i can use the NL loom with a EF vacume soleniod and EF CC module. or if i am lucky i can get away with using my boxcar vac soleniod

You should be right - just do a check on the CC pinouts that go to the ECU if you're using an NL ECU (about 4 or 5 lines IIRC). Just to check for orientation.
Either that or apply the fix recommended in the link I posted if the dash unit/vaccy sol combination works in reverse.

Nah i dont think you can
The black solenoid wiring is different! On DcStraights waggin he had aircon probs because everything was el but he had a nf/ef vac solenoid - and it was sending out air to different locations You need to use all el parts or all ef
