just like many other ea-ed owners from fordmods, i have a mid series cluster installed on my GLi. the cluster i installed has 105500km kilometers less on the clock than my original cluster. (it should read something like 320XXX instead of 214XXX) i dont like it. does anyone know how legal/illegal it is to wind the kilometers forward myself or do i have to take it to someone to do it. i know how to do it. being a a*** i dont like paying people to do something i could do for free.
cheers all |

Ok.
I am doing the same upgrade. I have pulled the cluster apart, but how do I add 80000 Kms to it? Just wind it forward?, or is there a better way? Ta BenJ

Winding your odometer forward or backward 80000kms by hand would take weeks if you did some every night.
On my EB I upgraded to a Mid Cluster from a EBII Fairmont. I tried dismantling the odometer to set the kms at the required level, but managed to break the little cog wheel. What I did then was remove the Odometer from the Low Cluster and just bolt and plug it into the Mid Cluster. Works like a charm. Easy to do and no stuffing around. Also when I plugged my Mid Cluster into the GL the tacho, and voltmeter all worked without me having to run any wires. All I have to do now is change the Oil Pressure switch for a sender to get the oil pressure gauge to read correctly. Regards BenJ

swapping the odometer thingos over is probably the best way to do it. (didnt think of it when i got the cluster)
it only takes 30mins or so to wind up the k,s using the correct tools. |

Also if you swap the odo's over you will have a spare for when you reach the kms an the other one in case it f***s up
