Well, I've just bought an EF, and it's odometer doesn't light up at all, whilst the rest of the dash is fine. Is it easy to replace just the odometer bit (or even fix a light), or is it a case of replacing the whole instrument cluster?

It's an EF Futura, so it's got the low series cluster (with reasonably low k's for an early EF, so I'd rather not change the whole cluster).

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. :)

yeah just take the dash apart, lower the steering wheel and remove the 4 screws holding the dash in place you may also need to remove the screws for the air-con controller box, and then pull the two plugs on the left and right side of the dash out and remove the dash, then it's the plug directly behind the ODO, if you replace it with standard globes then it doesn't matter which way the new ones go back in but if you use LED's then they are + and - and take a bit of fiddiling to get right.

Hope that helps but if not feel free to PM me.

yeah it'd only be a blown bulb or two. There are six that light up the entire dash.

Its worthwhile checking the other globes while you have the dash off - just unscrew them and have a look. If the globe looks dark or black, you should probably replace them as they are probably on the way out. I replaced a few blackish ones on mine and made a big difference.

Awesome, thanks a lot :)

I'll probably take the dash apart and look at the globes when I start installing the stereo, so i only need to do it once. My first priority, however, is getting it roadworthy.

But also when i did mine i accidentally stuffed up the rubber connector things on the side of the enclosure for the Odometer, it may be that i dunno, though it sounds like it might save ya $15 ya never know........

Does anyone know where I could get the globe from, whether somewhere like AutoPro would have them, or whether I'd need to go to Ford? What are the part numbers for either? :)

Blue LED conversion would be nice, but I can't be a*** :p

I've got the car roadworthied, but I want to do this before I register the car, because I'm removing the dash for the stereo installation anyway.

Thanks a lot :)
